Buckler Takes on Mondello Park
Mondello Park Pre 1955 Classic Race.

Getting up early Sunday morning while looking out at the windswept and rain filled sky not what you want when heading off for a day in an open top car. Eldest daughter Kim navigated for the day and didnt complain much about the rain. She put on my race helmet and at least it kept her dry and more important it stopped her talking!!!!We arrived at the track and Kim was delighted to get a drive round the track to the pits. I think she couldnt wait for school on Monday to tell all her friends that she was on a racing track.

Taking off at the start of the practice session what fun I am still grinning ear to ear who thought you could have this much fun with only 32 hp. My hood kept flapping and hitting me in the face but it didnt slow us.

Overtaking a DB 6 okay he was about to overtake me but he is 15 years newer.

Cornering hard well it felt hard when you where out there this little car has amazing roadholding and the brakes really pull it up quickly, I found I was being passed the straights but caught up again coming in and around the bends. I was using a standard box which has a low first and second with a big gap to third so second was too low for the corners and third too high so I kept going off the power after ever bend. Next purchase a close ratio gear set and a pair of SU'S.
